Where the 160 Nm shows up
On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 400 Nm to 560 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Volkswagen Passat B8 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.
Peak power moves too, 190 hp to 247 hp, but you will feel the 160 Nm far more often than the 57 hp.
