Where the 66 Nm shows up
On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 250 Nm to 316 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Volkswagen Golf actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.
Peak power moves too, 110 hp to 151 hp, but you will feel the 66 Nm far more often than the 41 hp.
