Where the 106 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 350 Nm to 456 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Volkswagen Crafter actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.
