Why DMS

There are plenty of “tuners” out there giving remote tuning a bad name. Our NC calibrations are developed in-house on our dyno — and the dyno proves them. We don’t chase numbers: the target is drivability and smooth, usable delivery on your exact hardware and fuel. Every file is written for your spec — nothing pre-made.

Prefer it strapped to the dyno? The same calibration can be developed in person at our dyno in Artemida, Athens — message us.

Two platforms, one standard

Every NC tune is custom and dyno-developed. The only choice is which platform it runs on — we lead with MazdaEdit, and now officially offer VersaTuner too.

MazdaEditPrimary · 15 yearsOur home platform — mastered over 15 straight years, with the best datalogger in the world. It feels native to us, so it’s our default. The builder above prices your tune on MazdaEdit.
VersaTunerNow officialWe now officially tune the MX-5 NC on VersaTuner too. Prefer it, or already running it? We write your custom calibration on VersaTuner exactly the way we do on MazdaEdit — same guidance, same revisions until it’s right. You’ll need a VersaTuner Lite licence for your car; we walk you through setup and every step.VersaTuner NC support →

Options — explained

Pops & Bangs — Pops on throttle lift-off — from a mild, OEM-plus burble to aggressive. We set the level you ask for.

Launch control — Holds RPM at a set point for clean, repeatable launches — set to the number you want.

Flat shift — Full-throttle gear changes without lifting — keeps the engine on song between shifts.

Vmax / speed limiter — Removes the factory speed limiter.

DTC Delete — Permanently disables the specific fault codes you list (e.g. P0037,P0038) — for hardware you have removed.

Rear O2 sensor delete — Tells the ECU the rear O2 sensor is no longer there once you have removed it — no light, no codes.

Intake runners delete (aluminum side) — For the NC intake runners (aluminum side): once removed, the ECU stops looking for them — clean running, no codes.

IMMO OFF — Immobilizer solution for swapped or second-hand ECUs — the engine starts without the original key pairing.

Deletes & bypasses exist to inform the ECU about hardware the owner has already removed. They are not intended for passing emissions testing or manipulating emissions equipment — off-road / motorsport use only. You are responsible for complying with your local laws.

Remote tuning — frequently asked questions

Everything about how a DMS remote tune for the MX-5 NC works, what you need, and what to expect.

How does remote tuning for the MX-5 NC work?+

You read your car’s stock ECU file with MazdaEdit and a generic J2534/OBD cable, send it to us, and we build a custom calibration for your exact hardware and fuel. You flash it back — fully guided — then send us datalogs so we refine the map until it’s spot-on. No pre-made files.

How much does a remote tune cost?+

The MX-5 NC builder above prices it live: Log Check €50, Stage 0 €250, naturally-aspirated custom tune €450, and forced-induction (turbo/supercharger) €650. IMMO OFF, ECU swap and live remote sessions are optional add-ons. You only pay after we confirm your exact ECU.

What equipment do I need?+

A Windows laptop, a generic J2534 / OBD flashing cable, and the MazdaEdit software to read and write your NC ECU. No gear yet? Add the Lite + cable kit in the builder and we set everything up for you.

Do I need my own tuning licence?+

For the MazdaEdit route we handle the tooling. If you already own a VersaTuner Lite licence you can use that instead — VersaTuner is a “bring your own licence” option; we don’t resell it. New to tuning? Go MazdaEdit + cable and we configure it all.

Is remote tuning safe for my engine?+

Yes. Every NC calibration is developed in-house on our own dyno and validated from your real datalogs. We tune for clean, usable power and drivability on your specific fuel and hardware — never blind number-chasing.

Which MX-5 NC models are supported?+

All Mazda MX-5 NC (2005–2015), both 1.8 and 2.0 engines, stock or modified. We confirm your exact ECU part number before you pay anything. Other Mazda platforms are supported on MazdaEdit too — ask for a per-build quote.

Can you tune a turbo or supercharged NC?+

Yes — forced-induction builds are fully supported. Pick the Turbo / Supercharger option in the builder. For custom hardware we’ll want a quick spec rundown so the map matches your setup exactly.

How long does a remote tune take?+

Once we have your stock file, the first custom map is usually ready within a couple of working days. Final refinement depends on how quickly you return datalogs — most builds are dialled in over one or two log-and-revise rounds.
