NC Miata 2.5 Swap Tune
A 2.5 L5-VE swap runs on the NC's factory ECU with a custom MazdaEdit calibration, and we can write it remotely: you fit the engine, send your ECU read and a datalog, and we build the map from your car's data.
It costs $480 outside the EU or €450 + VAT (€558 incl. VAT) in the EU, the first map comes the same day, and 2-3 revisions usually finish it.

Base map or custom tune?
Our Quick Swap kit ships with a 2.5 base map. It's a proven starting calibration that runs the engine properly, but it isn't a custom tune for your car.
A custom tune is optional and written for your hardware. If you add headers or cams later, the map is adapted for them, and existing DMS clients get a discounted price on a new tune for bigger upgrades.
Didn't buy the engine from us? We can still tune the swap. We give you a DMS spec list so the build meets our standards before we tune it.
What we calibrate on a 2.5
- MAF: custom calibration for the 2.5.
- VVT: custom optimisation for your engine and cams.
- Fuel: stock injectors and fuel system are enough to about 220-240 hp on a 2.5.
What we need from you
- Engine and donor details, and the ECU part number
- A Windows laptop, a J2534 OBD cable and MazdaEdit
- Your ECU read and a datalog
- Intake, MAP sensor, injectors, fuel and limiter
- Headers, exhaust and cams, in as much detail as you have
A 1.8 car needs the 2.0 ECU and the oil pickup for the swap. A swapped or second-hand ECU may also need IMMO OFF, €100 + VAT.

Crank figures. Hardware varies between cars, including headers, intake and exhaust. Same car, 2.5 swap, adding headers and cams: 193 hp / 250 Nm to 211 hp / 263 Nm.
These are mostly cars tuned on our own dyno, not remote cars. Only one post with numbers states a remote tune: 2.5, Stage 2 cams, 220 hp / 270 Nm, and it doesn't say where that was measured. Your result depends on your car. All NC numbers.
How the tune goes
- Confirm the ECU and spec the car.
- With the flasher in hand, setup takes 5 minutes and the first map is written.
- Log what we ask for and send the file. We send a revision.
- 2-3 revisions usually finish the job, unlimited for the same setup.

Is a 2.5 swap priced as a turbo tune?
No. A naturally aspirated 2.5 is the NA tune: $480 outside the EU, €450 + VAT (€558 incl. VAT) in the EU.
Do I need a standalone ECU?
No. The tune runs on the factory NC ECU with MazdaEdit.
Do I need a wideband on a naturally aspirated 2.5?
No. The stock NC ECU runs a wideband front sensor.
Does the Quick Swap kit include a custom tune?
No. It includes a 2.5 base map. The custom tune is optional.
I installed cams after my first tune. Is that a new tune?
The map gets adapted to the new hardware. Small changes after delivery are free, and bigger upgrades get a discounted new tune for existing clients.
Can you tune my swap if another shop built it?
Yes. Send the full hardware list first.
Can I turbo the 2.5 later?
Yes. Turbo is a separate tune and uses more hardware.
