● Measured, not estimated
MX-5 dyno data.
We don't quote percentages — we publish the numbers, with their sample. 29 real Mazda MX-5 with a measured baseline and a measured tuned pull on our own DynoRevolt. Median, range and n per engine. Every number here is recomputable from the filter below.
| Engine | Induction | Sample (n) | Power — median (range) | Torque — median (range) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MX-5 NC 1.8 | NA remap | 8 | 151 hp (139–159 hp) | 183 Nm (180–196 Nm) |
| MX-5 NC 2.0 | NA remap | 3 | 201 hp (190–206 hp) | 222 Nm (190–228 Nm) |
| MX-5 NC 2.5 (Duratec swap) | NA | 8 | 219 hp (210–236 hp) | 270 Nm (255–290 Nm) |
| MX-5 (any) turbo / forced induction | Forced induction | 10 | 276 hp (211–450 hp) | 340 Nm (269–500 Nm) |
The filter — reproducible
All 29 Mazda MX-5 (NA / NB / NC) cars with a measured baseline and a measured tuned pull on our DynoRevolt 2WD dyno, DIN 70020 corrected, engine (crank) power. Aggregates only — no customer names. Induction is split by the physical NA power ceiling per displacement (1.8 ≤170 hp, 2.0 ≤225 hp, 2.5 ≤245 hp); anything above is forced induction. "Median" and "range" are over the tuned peak of the n cars in each row.
How much power does an MX-5 NC 2.5 Duratec swap make?
Across 8 measured 2.5 NA swap builds on our dyno: median 219 hp / 270 Nm, range 210–236 hp. DIN 70020, crank.
What does an MX-5 NC 1.8 gain from a remap?
8 measured 1.8 NA remaps: median 151 hp / 183 Nm (range 139–159 hp).
How much power from a turbo MX-5?
10 measured forced-induction builds: median 276 hp / 340 Nm, up to 450 hp / 500 Nm.
