Where the 58 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 260 Nm to 318 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Skoda Superb actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 120 hp to 151 hp, but you will feel the 58 Nm far more often than the 31 hp.
