Where the 82 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 240 Nm to 322 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Skoda Fabia actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 100 hp to 144 hp, but you will feel the 82 Nm far more often than the 44 hp.
