Factory output for the Toyota Rav4 2.5 VVT IE Hybrid is 306 hp and 285 Nm. A Stage 1 remap targets 323 hp and 301 Nm — 17 hp (+6%) and 16 Nm (+6%).

Those are the figures we work to on this engine. They are a starting point, not a promise: the number we hand back is the one your car makes on our dyno, measured before and after on the same day, in the same conditions.

Where the 16 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 285 Nm to 301 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Toyota Rav4 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 306 hp to 323 hp, but you will feel the 16 Nm far more often than the 17 hp.
