Factory output for the Jaguar Xj 5.0 V8 Supercharged is 550 hp and 680 Nm. A Stage 1 remap targets 573 hp and 724 Nm — 23 hp (+4%) and 44 Nm (+6%).

Those are the figures we work to on this engine. They are a starting point, not a promise: the number we hand back is the one your car makes on our dyno, measured before and after on the same day, in the same conditions.

Where the 44 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 680 Nm to 724 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Jaguar Xj actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 550 hp to 573 hp, but you will feel the 44 Nm far more often than the 23 hp.

The calibration is written for your car, not pulled from a file library. We adjust fuelling, ignition timing, injection timing and boost, then re-run the dyno to verify the 573 hp and 724 Nm figure and check knock, lambda and temperatures under load.
