Factory output for the Jaguar Xj 5.0 V8 Supercharged XJR is 575 hp and 700 Nm. A Stage 1 remap targets 594 hp and 727 Nm — 19 hp (+3%) and 27 Nm (+4%).

Those are the figures we work to on this engine. They are a starting point, not a promise: the number we hand back is the one your car makes on our dyno, measured before and after on the same day, in the same conditions.

Where the 27 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 700 Nm to 727 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Jaguar Xj actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 575 hp to 594 hp, but you will feel the 27 Nm far more often than the 19 hp.
