Where the 80 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 320 Nm to 400 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a BMW 2 Series GC actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 150 hp to 190 hp, but you will feel the 80 Nm far more often than the 40 hp.
