Factory output for the Audi A8 4.2 TDI is 385 hp and 850 Nm. A Stage 1 remap targets 450 hp and 950 Nm — 65 hp (+17%) and 100 Nm (+12%).

Those are the figures we work to on this engine. They are a starting point, not a promise: the number we hand back is the one your car makes on our dyno, measured before and after on the same day, in the same conditions.

Where the 100 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 850 Nm to 950 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where an Audi A8 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 385 hp to 450 hp, but you will feel the 100 Nm far more often than the 65 hp.
