Where the 126 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 600 Nm to 726 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where an Audi A8 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 286 hp to 357 hp, but you will feel the 126 Nm far more often than the 71 hp.
