Where the 84 Nm shows up
On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 380 Nm to 464 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where an Audi A4 Cabrio actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.
Peak power moves too, 180 hp to 223 hp, but you will feel the 84 Nm far more often than the 43 hp.
