Toyota Hilux Stage 1: 120 hp → 156 hp

Factory output for the Toyota Hilux 2.5 D4D is 120 hp and 325 Nm. A Stage 1 remap targets 156 hp and 401 Nm — 36 hp (+30%) and 76 Nm (+23%).

Those are the figures we work to on this engine. They are a starting point, not a promise: the number we hand back is the one your car makes on our dyno, measured before and after on the same day, in the same conditions.

Where the 76 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 325 Nm to 401 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Toyota Hilux actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 120 hp to 156 hp, but you will feel the 76 Nm far more often than the 36 hp.

What Stage 1 involves on a Toyota Hilux

We read the ECU, log the car as it stands, and put it on the dyno to confirm the 120 hp baseline — a tired or faulty engine gets diagnosed before it gets mapped, not after.

The calibration is written for your car, not pulled from a file library. We adjust fuelling, ignition timing, injection timing and boost, then re-run the dyno to verify the 156 hp and 401 Nm figure and check knock, lambda and temperatures under load.

Turnaround is same-day for most cars. Stock file is archived, so the car can go back to standard whenever you want.
