Where the 64 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 420 Nm to 484 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Mazda Mazda 6 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 175 hp to 213 hp, but you will feel the 64 Nm far more often than the 38 hp.
