BMW M5 Stage 1: 400 hp → 435 hp

Factory output for the BMW M5 3.0 D Bi-turbo is 400 hp and 760 Nm. A Stage 1 remap targets 435 hp and 820 Nm — 35 hp (+9%) and 60 Nm (+8%).

Those are the figures we work to on this engine. They are a starting point, not a promise: the number we hand back is the one your car makes on our dyno, measured before and after on the same day, in the same conditions.

Where the 60 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 760 Nm to 820 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a BMW M5 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 400 hp to 435 hp, but you will feel the 60 Nm far more often than the 35 hp.

What Stage 1 involves on a BMW M5

We read the ECU, log the car as it stands, and put it on the dyno to confirm the 400 hp baseline — a tired or faulty engine gets diagnosed before it gets mapped, not after.

The calibration is written for your car, not pulled from a file library. We adjust fuelling, ignition timing, injection timing and boost, then re-run the dyno to verify the 435 hp and 820 Nm figure and check knock, lambda and temperatures under load.

Turnaround is same-day for most cars. Stock file is archived, so the car can go back to standard whenever you want.
