BMW 7 Series Stage 1: 340 hp → 380 hp

Factory output for the BMW 7 Series 740d is 340 hp and 700 Nm. A Stage 1 remap targets 380 hp and 750 Nm — 40 hp (+12%) and 50 Nm (+7%).

Those are the figures we work to on this engine. They are a starting point, not a promise: the number we hand back is the one your car makes on our dyno, measured before and after on the same day, in the same conditions.

Where the 50 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 700 Nm to 750 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a BMW 7 Series actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 340 hp to 380 hp, but you will feel the 50 Nm far more often than the 40 hp.

What Stage 1 involves on a BMW 7 Series

We read the ECU, log the car as it stands, and put it on the dyno to confirm the 340 hp baseline — a tired or faulty engine gets diagnosed before it gets mapped, not after.

The calibration is written for your car, not pulled from a file library. We adjust fuelling, ignition timing, injection timing and boost, then re-run the dyno to verify the 380 hp and 750 Nm figure and check knock, lambda and temperatures under load.

Turnaround is same-day for most cars. Stock file is archived, so the car can go back to standard whenever you want.
