Where the 82 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 320 Nm to 402 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where an Audi A6 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 136 hp to 187 hp, but you will feel the 82 Nm far more often than the 51 hp.
