Where the 80 Nm shows up

On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 400 Nm to 480 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where an Audi A5 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.

Peak power moves too, 190 hp to 235 hp, but you will feel the 80 Nm far more often than the 45 hp.
