It is when the calibration is written within the mechanical limits of the parts actually on the car, and verified with real measurements. That is why every car is diagnosed first and measured on the dyno before and after.
It is not safe when a generic file is flashed onto an engine nobody has inspected. A car with worn injectors, a blocked intercooler or a tired turbo does not gain power from a database file — it gains risk.
That depends on the engine, its condition and what hardware is on it, which is why we measure rather than quote percentages. You get a before and after graph from the same machine and can see the actual figure.
We have 333+ builds measured on our own dyno, so for most common models we can tell you what we have actually seen — without promising it for your car before we have measured it.
Stage 1 takes 2 to 3 hours and starts from €450. Stage 2 takes 3 to 4 hours and starts from €500. A full custom calibration takes 4 to 6 hours. Those times include the baseline and verification runs.
The final price depends on the model, the ECU and whether it reads over OBD or on the bench. You get the figure before the work starts.
A remap is a change to the factory software and a manufacturer can treat it as such, so this is worth thinking about on a car still under warranty. We will tell you honestly where you stand for your model.
