Volvo XC60 Stage 1: 197 hp → 256 hp
Factory output for the Volvo XC60 B4 2.0d is 197 hp and 420 Nm. A Stage 1 remap targets 256 hp and 588 Nm — 59 hp (+30%) and 168 Nm (+40%).
Those are the figures we work to on this engine. They are a starting point, not a promise: the number we hand back is the one your car makes on our dyno, measured before and after on the same day, in the same conditions.
Where the 168 Nm shows up
On a diesel the useful change is torque, not peak power. Going from 420 Nm to 588 Nm fills in the mid-range, which is where a Volvo XC60 actually spends its time — pulling from 1,800 to 3,000 rpm in a high gear, overtaking without dropping two gears, towing or carrying weight without the engine falling on its face.
Peak power moves too, 197 hp to 256 hp, but you will feel the 168 Nm far more often than the 59 hp.
What Stage 1 involves on a Volvo XC60
We read the ECU, log the car as it stands, and put it on the dyno to confirm the 197 hp baseline — a tired or faulty engine gets diagnosed before it gets mapped, not after.
The calibration is written for your car, not pulled from a file library. We adjust fuelling, ignition timing, injection timing and boost, then re-run the dyno to verify the 256 hp and 588 Nm figure and check knock, lambda and temperatures under load.
Turnaround is same-day for most cars. Stock file is archived, so the car can go back to standard whenever you want.
